Frogs were placed on cotton wool moistened with an extremely diluted 45Ca solution, in small containers saturated with water vapour. After some days blood, ventral and dorsal skin, muscle, bone and the content of the lime sacs of the endolymphatic sac were removed. In all the samples radioactivity due to 45Ca was detected. Since uptake by the digestive tract may be ruled out, evidence is thus provided of Ca++ ion transport through the skin, under reliably physiological conditions.
