The recognition of quality in the educational sector is seeing great diffusion because of the strategic importance of the teaching system to numerous interlocutors. The instrument of certification, in connection with the more specific tool of accreditation, provides for the implementation of an effective quality process management system to monitor and improve educational offerings to the satisfaction of numerous stakeholders. This paper delineates the international and national evolution of the sector, with particular reference to the recent law on the accreditation of structures for professional education and vocational guidance.
