Abstract
EXCHANGE RATE ARRANGEMENTS IN THE CURRENT INTERNATIONAL MONETARY SYSTEM After the collapse of the Bretton Woods system, the debate over different exchange rate arrangements was revitalised. The government choice between a monetary union, an official dollarisation, a currency board regime, a pegged exchange rate arrangement or a more flexible one entails the retention of different degrees of monetary sovereignty. In the new discretionary system of exchange arrangements, the affirmation “one State-one Money”, which was at the basis of the IMF Articles of Agreement, is not anymore valid. The effect of the adoption of a specific exchange rate arrangement with respect to the exercise of membership rights and obligations in the IMF is analysed in the last chapter. SOMMARIO: 1. Introduzione. I currency boards 6. Conclusioni.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
