A comprehensive parametrization of the color-singlet heavy quark free energy above Tc is given, using the lattice data in quenched (Nf=0) and unquenched (Nf=2 and Nf=3) QCD. The corresponding (temperature dependent) potentials thus obtained are then inserted into the Schrödinger equation for charmonium and bottomonium in the deconfined phase of QCD. The solution of the equation provides an estimate of the melting temperature and of the radii for the different c[overline c] and b[overline b] bound states.
