Abstract

The rate of exchange of the two water molecules coordinated to a GdIII centre in neutral complexes with heptadentate DO3A derivatives is modulated by the basicity of the macrocyclic nitrogen bearing the pendant group: a lower basicity results in a slower water-exchange rate.
