This chapter / essay compares J. Lahiri's and K. Desai's New York prize winning novels, respectively "The Namesake" and "The Inheritance of Loss". This comparative analysis takes into consideration literary, narratological and cultural prespectives, by creating a dialogue between these two postcolonial texts and also considering the film version of Lahiri's novel by Indian film director Mira Nair, once again for its cultural contextualization as well as for its filmic strategies.
