The article is related to The Sea of Fertility (Hojo no umi), the long novel in four volumes that the famous japanese writer Mishima Yukio completed in 1970, just before commiting suicide with the traditional ritual of seppuku. The translation from japanese of the article The Sea of Fertility (Hojo no umi no baai) of the essayst Tasaka Ko, who concentrate his analysis on the “dualistic contrasts”, is added.
