Climatic change in the Ossola upper valley (North West Italy): analysis of snow and avalanche risk. In order to understand and face climate changes, long and reliable climatic series are required. Different international projects are established with the aim to recover, analyze and interpret climate data. This work carried out in the northern Piedmont (NW Italy) aims at digitalizing two daily climate dataseries including temperature, precipitation and snow depth for the weather stations of the Ossola upper valley (Alpe Devero and Formazza Vannino). Information on stations history is gathered. Data quality control and data homogenization are proceeded. A complete climate-related analysis is performed with significant trends assessment and main avalanche events description.
