The paper examines the origin of rajput and the process that includes them in the Indian cultural system. Through the myths and the facts the image of rajput becomes more and more recognizable: in spite of their provenance, the rajput case represents an extraordinary example of the inclusivistic attitude of Indian culture. The concepts of “inclusivism” and “sanskritization” can explain the solution adopted in front of what is “extraneous”.
