The Acqui Terme-Visone area, known for its hot springs since the Roman age, is located in SW Piedmont (Italy). Thermal discharges have mainly NaCl-CaSO4 composition and reach the highest temperature of 70 °C with “La Bollente” spring; the other thermal discharges are represented by springs and exploration wells, which have temperatures between 18 and 40 °C. A range of chemical geothermometers (silica and ionic solutes geothermometers) and graphical methods (silica-enthalpy diagrams) have been applied to the thermal and cold waters recently sampled in this area to estimate the temperature of the Acqui Terme-Visone geothermal reservoir.
