The paper addresses the topic of recent developments in international laws concerning cultural protection and preservation, focusing the attention on a specific case study: the 2006 application, submitted by Germany, regarding the event of the Construction and Fall of the Berlin Wall for the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. The article is aimed at pointing out the relevance of researches in philosophical ontology (e.g. Social ontology and Ontology of art) for the theoretical improvement of international preservation practice, particularly regarding the tangible/intangible heritage distinction.
