The present work aims to investigate the presence of non-adapted Italianisms, i.e. Italian words borrowed by other languages with no adaptation in form (graphic or morphological) and/or meaning, in the non-native varieties of English spoken in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and East Africa. The perspective is mostly synchronic, with emphasis on quantitative data. The approach is corpus driven: non-adapted Italianisms are retrieved by means of n-grams, without starting from a pre-packaged list.

Abstract
The present work aims to investigate the presence of non-adapted Italianisms, i.e. Italian words borrowed by other languages with no adaptation in form (graphic or morphological) and/or meaning, in the non-native varieties of English spoken in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and East Africa. The perspective is mostly synchronic, with emphasis on quantitative data. The approach is corpus driven: non-adapted Italianisms are retrieved by means of n-grams, without starting from a pre-packaged list.File in questo prodotto:
