Spatial dependence of Pb and Cd in some Sardinia soils

This work was undertaken to evaluate the spatial dependence of Pb and Cd in some agricultural soils of Southern Sardinia, where the fallout of dust from the near industrial area is an important hazard of contamination. Both elements were spatial dependent and their semivariograms were fitted by a spherical model. The Kriging cross validation allowed to ascertain the goodness of the estimate and therefore the estimated values were plotted and related to the soil type. Very high concentrations of both elements corresponded to the area where Vertisols are present.
