Ict communication networks and social cohesion The Web Immigration Portal

This contribution focuses on the opportunities provided by ICT to the process of social integration. Herein we propose the analysis of a public policy - information and communication oriented towards a specific group - immigrants. The cooperation of different public actors at the local level (the province of Asti) resulted in information and communication regarding series of procedural steps, in electronic booking procedure that eased the tasks of the bureaucracy and improved the quality of the service supplied to this group of people in search of regularization. The case is herein evaluated under different perspectives: a) the cooperative process among the different levels of bureaucracy and the role of the local policy makers; b) the supply of a public service specifically tailored towards a social group; c) the improvement of community social cohesion by increasing tolerance as a public good at the local level. total pages 15
