Abstract

In the last years, the use of anticonvulsant drugs in prophylactic therapy of migraine is more widespread. While the efficacy of valproic acid is confirmed by several randomised clinical trials, preliminary studies seem to be in favour also for the use of some anticonvulsant drugs of new generation. The authors report the results of scientific publications about the efficacy of valproic acid, gabapentin, topiramato, lamotrigin, zonisamide and levetiracetam in migraine prophylaxis.
