Leptin the product of the ob gene, is a protein hormone synthesised and secreted by adipose tissue, recently it has been reported to be present in breast milk. Recent studies show that breast feeding seem to prevent obesity in children in age to predram. Since Leptin regulates food intake and energy metabolism, it might be involved in body composition differences between breast fed and formula fed infants. Aim: to evaluate Leptin levels in i breast fed and formula fed infants.
