Based on autoethnography of my interrupted conversion, the book analyses sociologically the Reconstructors in Prayer religious agenda and relations with the Catholic hierarchy. After reflecting on the “story behind the story” of my experience of living with the Reconstructors, I examine the salient stages of the movement’s history, doctrinal structure and ritual practices and explore its esoteric nature as well as the interaction between the founder, Giovanni Cappelletto, and his disciples.

Abstract

Based on autoethnography of my interrupted conversion, the book analyses sociologically the Reconstructors in Prayer religious agenda and relations with the Catholic hierarchy. After reflecting on the “story behind the story” of my experience of living with the Reconstructors, I examine the salient stages of the movement’s history, doctrinal structure and ritual practices and explore its esoteric nature as well as the interaction between the founder, Giovanni Cappelletto, and his disciples.
