Welcome and Introduction by Professor Chiara Benedetto, President of EBCOG Dear Colleagues and Friends, On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Estonian Gynaecologists Society we are deeply honoured to invite you to the 22nd European Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which will be held from the 9-12 May , 2012 in beautiful and exotic, yet very European and state-of-the art Tallinn. The heart of the congress is, of course, its scientific programme designed in the spirit of previous EBCOG congresses. This year however, there are some innovations in the programme. We have organised video operations, updated and interesting Hands on training and post graduate courses held in medical facilities. A new course this year is Training the Visitors Course which deals with one of EBCOG’s core activities: Auditing and Accrediting (A&A) of OBGYN training hospitals across the EU. A session on Standards of Care will delve into one of the issues EBCOG is greatly concerned with: The variation and inequality of maternity care in Europe. All this and much more. From Training the Trainers course to Keynote lectures by eminent clinicians. We have worked hard to offer the best updated programme of scientific and medical importance. Furthermore, via the UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists) Continuous Medical Education European (CME) credits will be valid in all European Community Countries In order to facilitate Congress participation and accommodate delegates to design their own daily schedules, the Congress Management Committee has decided to significantly reduce all of the Congress registration fees and combine this with the introduction of a fee for Hands-On and Post Graduate courses. This concept has worked well for other organizations; we are looking forward to seeing it work for EBCOG in Tallinn. We are very pleased to welcome you to Tallinn and we hope that you will have time to explore this beautiful and exotic city. Professor Chiara Benedetto Professor Helle Karro
