The article examines legal disclaimers found in multimodal healthcare insurance texts. After commenting on their interactive and international character, it focuses on a number of lexico-grammatical features of these texts, drawing attention to the hybrid informative / legal nature of the language choice. Language plays an essential role in the disclaimers from both a persuasive and a legal point of view as the success of a disclaimer would seem to be highly dependent on the felicity of the language choice.

Abstract

The article examines legal disclaimers found in multimodal healthcare insurance texts. After commenting on their interactive and international character, it focuses on a number of lexico-grammatical features of these texts, drawing attention to the hybrid informative / legal nature of the language choice. Language plays an essential role in the disclaimers from both a persuasive and a legal point of view as the success of a disclaimer would seem to be highly dependent on the felicity of the language choice.
