The entire population of Guizhou snub-nosed monkeys, Rhinopithecus brelichi (Thomas, 1930), with an estimated size of 800 individuals occurs only in a restricted area of 400 Km2 in the subtropical semi-deciduous broadleaf forests of Wuling mountains in the Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve (Guizhou – China). Using data collected from captive animals at the Fanjingshan National Nature Preserve Rescue Center, we described the vocal repertoire of Rhinopithecus brelichi. We quantitatively described 9 vocal types and we discuss the acoustic properties of calls given by Rhinopithecus brelichi in the light of the quantitative studies available for the genus Rhinopithecus.

We quantitatively described 9 vocal types and we discuss the acoustic properties of calls given by Rhinopithecus brelichi in the light of the quantitative studies available for the genus Rhinopithecus.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
