New approaches in the study of terracotta figurines in funerary contexts have emerged in the last few years, focusing on ritual use and symbolic values. Some case studies in Magna Graecia and Sicily (e.g. Tarentum, Lipari, Pantanello, Locri Epizephyrii) prove to be particularly meaningful in order to investigate the depositional procedures these offerings were involved in. The paper deals with the methodological problems related to this topic and expands on the presence of sporadic terracottas in the necropoleis.

Abstract
New approaches in the study of terracotta figurines in funerary contexts have emerged in the last few years, focusing on ritual use and symbolic values. Some case studies in Magna Graecia and Sicily (e.g. Tarentum, Lipari, Pantanello, Locri Epizephyrii) prove to be particularly meaningful in order to investigate the depositional procedures these offerings were involved in. The paper deals with the methodological problems related to this topic and expands on the presence of sporadic terracottas in the necropoleis.File in questo prodotto:
