Ernst Bloch's thinking provides many interesting tools for an analysis of our consumeristic society: this is the case especially for his "narrative philosophy", an elaboration on his main themes. In the Matrix-like iperreality that surrounds us, literary fragments can provide a new context to the traces of a utopian novum, thus weaving a soft net of meanings, diaphanous enough not to be damaged by Medusa's petrifying glance on reality, free of simplistic optimistim or sine die procrastination. The fragment can break free from usual power dynamics and, notwithstanding some problems caused by historical memory (cyclical decline, winners' mystification, increase in historical entropy), it can become an exit strategy when all the other possibilities are unavailable.
