The article presents an exploratory study on the ergonomics needs expressed by Piedmonts’ enterprises, implemented within the project “Models for ergonomics management and safety in the workplace”. Since the first development of the Ergonomics discipline in Italy, organisational issues were particularly pursued, as well as a strongly interdisciplinary perspective in a design-driven approach, aimed at human well-being and overall system performance optimisation. Due to a lacking tradition of ergonomic studies in Italy, the research documents how the perceived need, and therefore the demand, are essentially shaped by vigilance committees requirements, principally oriented to physical ergonomics measures, rather than exploiting the potential of the discipline to achieve an efficient and productive organisational system and maximise the workers’ comfort, safety and health.

Abstract
The article presents an exploratory study on the ergonomics needs expressed by Piedmonts’ enterprises, implemented within the project “Models for ergonomics management and safety in the workplace”. Since the first development of the Ergonomics discipline in Italy, organisational issues were particularly pursued, as well as a strongly interdisciplinary perspective in a design-driven approach, aimed at human well-being and overall system performance optimisation. Due to a lacking tradition of ergonomic studies in Italy, the research documents how the perceived need, and therefore the demand, are essentially shaped by vigilance committees requirements, principally oriented to physical ergonomics measures, rather than exploiting the potential of the discipline to achieve an efficient and productive organisational system and maximise the workers’ comfort, safety and health.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
