The improvement and development of grafting techniques fall within the experimental activities in progress at the Regional Center for the Chestnut cultivation. Both in the forest and in the nursery, grafting remains the most widely used method to propagate the chestnut. The aim of the study was to define a fast and effective method for the production of micrografted material. Several features are important in order to obtain significant results, including: adequate grafting protocol, grafter ability, the best grafting period, climate conditions, and suitable propagation material. The proposed technique is thus intended to combine the advantages of the in vitro grafting with the ease and independence from sterile conditions of traditional grafting.

Abstract
The improvement and development of grafting techniques fall within the experimental activities in progress at the Regional Center for the Chestnut cultivation. Both in the forest and in the nursery, grafting remains the most widely used method to propagate the chestnut. The aim of the study was to define a fast and effective method for the production of micrografted material. Several features are important in order to obtain significant results, including: adequate grafting protocol, grafter ability, the best grafting period, climate conditions, and suitable propagation material. The proposed technique is thus intended to combine the advantages of the in vitro grafting with the ease and independence from sterile conditions of traditional grafting.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
