Lo studio delle raffigurazioni di Crassulaceae nell’ambito del progetto di valorizzazione dell’Iconographia Taurinensis (1752-1868)

The Iconographia Taurinensis (IT) is an unpublished collection of 7500 or so botanical plates in sixty-four volumes painted between 1752 and 1868 in Torino (Italy). We have studied the role of the IT in supporting Piedmontese botanists of the 18th and 19th centuries who worked at the Botanic Garden of Torino (Italy); the sixty plates illustrating Crassulaceae have been selected as an example of this study. Eighty-one illustrations, representing sixty nine taxa (inclusive of specific and infraspecific taxa) have been located in scattered form through the twenty nine volumes between the 3rd (1752) and the 63rd (1864). The study has focused on 41 plates, representing 28 Italian taxa.
