Over the past decades, transmission of tick-borne zoonoses (TBZ) has increased all over Europe. Some tick species, such as Ixodes ricinus, are spreading in parts of the world previously considered to be adverse. Several factors can play a significant role on the spread of the ticks and TBZ: density and movement of reservoir hosts, climate changes, continuous changes in the vegetation, landscape features and social . Ticks collection can provide an indication of the potential risk of tick-borne habits deseases in a given area. In this study, questing ticks were monthly collected monthly by dragging from April to September 2011-2014 in sites located at different altitudes in two areas of Piedmont, a north-western region of Italy: Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VCO) province and regional parks of Turin province. Ticks from bitten humans were also studied.
