This study aimed to address issues related to variability of rainfall in order to regionalize the rains in the Itajaí river basin, Santa Catarina. Through rigorous analysis of the data were subjected to an intensive quality control, an accurate historical research in daily scale. The cluster technical analysis was performed to identify climate areas within the basin. The results point to three areas in the basin, identifying that, while the total annual precipitation are very similar to seasonal distribution differs between the internal areas of the basin.
