The site, investigated in 1936 by Aurel Stein and never visited again, was one of the most important sanctuaries of Hellenistic and Parthian Elymais. Abstract

The Iranian-Italian Joint Expedition in Khuzestan started fieldwork at Kal-e Chendar, valley of Shami (Iranian Khuzestan).
