We are conducting a project involving automatic reasoning and natural language generation in the domain of diet management. In this paper we describe the main issues related to the automatic reasoning mechanisms for diet management purposes and we present the message generation techniques designed to support the users in managing their dietary choices. In particular, this paper has two main goals. First, with respect to the automatic reasoning module, we briefly describe the main features of the Simple Temporal Problem formalization of the diet domain. Second, with respect to the natural language generation module, we describe the actual implementation of the tasks of data interpretation and content selection, and the design of the message templates; moreover, we give a novel formalization of the sentence aggregation algorithm.
