Abstract
In the discourses On Kingship Dio of Prusa develops in an original way the image of Sardanapalus as a counter-model of sovereign: a false king who, because of his anandria, neither wishes nor knows how to manage power. Thanks to this image Dione can present in a more favourable light the exemplum of Alexander the Great, endowed with andreia but unable to control himself; Alexander thus becomes an imperfect model of sovereign, with whom the emperor can confront and with whom he can show himself superiorFile in questo prodotto:
