Ce2(NDC)3(DMF)2 metal−organic framework with NDC2− linker was synthesized. Upon thermal activation, a phase transformation at about 300°C was observed. The crystal structure of Ce2(NDC)3 was very disordered and solved only by means of a synergic use of single-crystal X-ray diffraction and Ce K-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure. Ce2(NDC)3 is porous toward carbon dioxide at −78°C, resulting in a surface area of about 200 m2/g.

Abstract

Ce2(NDC)3(DMF)2 metal−organic framework with NDC2− linker was synthesized. Upon thermal activation, a phase transformation at about 300°C was observed. The crystal structure of Ce2(NDC)3 was very disordered and solved only by means of a synergic use of single-crystal X-ray diffraction and Ce K-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure. Ce2(NDC)3 is porous toward carbon dioxide at −78°C, resulting in a surface area of about 200 m2/g.
