Leibniz's efforts in the foundation of mathematics were partly ignored, partly contested by his contemporaries, but originated subsequent strands of reflexion and controversy (the most famous among which is the century-long debate on the metaphysics of infinitesimal calculus). The paper traces both the roots of these foundational problems in Leibniz's peculiar philosophy of mathematics and the presence of Leibniz's doctrines and theories in 18th-century subsequent developments up to Lagrange.

Abstract
Leibniz's efforts in the foundation of mathematics were partly ignored, partly contested by his contemporaries, but originated subsequent strands of reflexion and controversy (the most famous among which is the century-long debate on the metaphysics of infinitesimal calculus). The paper traces both the roots of these foundational problems in Leibniz's peculiar philosophy of mathematics and the presence of Leibniz's doctrines and theories in 18th-century subsequent developments up to Lagrange.File in questo prodotto:
