In this chapter, starting from the basic concepts of vibrational spectroscopy, we discuss the potential and limitations of IR and Raman techniques applied to nanoparticles. We describe the experimental setups and the sample preparation procedures, discussing also the metrological aspects. Finally, selected case studies of characterization of oxide nanoparticles are presented.
