A modern nursery activity is very important to support the new interest for chestnut culture. The utilization of well-formed rootstocks is essential in order to obtain plants suitable for young orchards. The aim of the study was to select good growth techniques that allow a reduced growth time for Marsol CA07 clonal rootstocks in nursery. Five different cultivation substrates and treatments were compared: two specifics substrates were selected for positive and significantly different effects on plant growth (height and diameter), as well as emitted leaf number. The best substrates and treatment were “blond peat and pine bark” (T) and “Baltic blond peat, Irish peat, pine bark, and simple non-composted soil” (TS5). In both thesis, a NPK fertilizer was administered, but no biostimulant products were used. A significant plant growth was not observed using other substrates and products (fiber and coconut chips, soil improvers, biostimulants).
