The circulation of two different juridical text that defined the organization and operation of the Society, the “Constitution” and the “Declarations” is one of the main novelties introduced by the Society of Jesus itself into is own strucuture and organisation. The “Constituions” were intended for novices and the non-Jesuits world, the “Declarations” were intended for formed Jesuit. The “Constituta et annotata” (1546-1548?) demonstrate a process of composition whereby material pertaining originally in Constitutions is gradually transferred to the “Declarations”.
