We shall review the geometric framework for symmetries and conservation laws in Mechanics and Field Theories. The standard framework is enlarged to encompass generalized symmetries and the structured class of field theories which are commonly used in Theoretical Physics (e.g. covariant, gauge-covariant and gauge-natural theories). Simple examples of the framework are provided.
