Ports are important infrastructures as sources of economic sustenance, especially in Europe for all countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. On the other hand, the international and domestic maritime transport of goods and people, together with the traffic related to fishing activities, account for a significant share of the anthropogenic impact on the terrestrial ecosystem. Among the critical environmental issues, the increasing GHG emissions from the port operations jeopardise the fight against climate change. In this context, the effort in Italy to pursue sustainability in port systems is noteworthy. The objective of this contribution is to present the assessment of the carbon footprint of the Eastern Ligurian Seaport system implemented according to Ministery of the Ecological Transition guidelines. Furthermore, a section about the limits and potentialities of the monitoring process regulated by Italian legislation is added.

Abstract
Furthermore, a section about the limits and potentialities of the monitoring process regulated by Italian legislation is added.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
