The present paper aims at employing the theoretical device of duplex theoria in order to analyze two levels of the metaphysical scheme of Simone Weil’s thought. The first level is the Trinity, which is analyzed according to the two sides of the divine self-origin (inner theophanic level) and of the grace as the trinitarian limit of love. This analysis allows to highlight the neo-platonic influence on Simone Weil’s thought, in antithesis to the gnostic elements in her speculation. The second level is the Cross, i.e. an event which defines the limits of reality, the metaphysical status of the human being and the task entailed by such metaphysical status. The Cross represents both the radical negatio negationis, the realization of the divine grace in the death of God, and the cosmic complex that is nailed down by the necessity of vicissitude. Moreover, since the inner core of the human being is consubstantial to the Cross, the human being is entrusted with the task of accepting the divine death as pure grace devoid of power.

Abstract
Moreover, since the inner core of the human being is consubstantial to the Cross, the human being is entrusted with the task of accepting the divine death as pure grace devoid of power.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
