We present the results of an investigation for REE, carried out on the Silius fluorite vein system (SE Sardinia, Italy), which is similar to other late- to post-Hercynian mineralizations of this type in Europe. The mineralogical study evidenced that REE-fluorocarbonates, mainly represented by synchysite, occur in the gangue of the vein system, in association with hydrothermal dolomite and quartz. This is a relevant discovery, because this mineral association has been commonly observed in several fluorite vein systems genetically related to magmatic activity, whereas it is rare in non-magmatically associated hydrothermal veins.

Abstract
We present the results of an investigation for REE, carried out on the Silius fluorite vein system (SE Sardinia, Italy), which is similar to other late- to post-Hercynian mineralizations of this type in Europe. The mineralogical study evidenced that REE-fluorocarbonates, mainly represented by synchysite, occur in the gangue of the vein system, in association with hydrothermal dolomite and quartz. This is a relevant discovery, because this mineral association has been commonly observed in several fluorite vein systems genetically related to magmatic activity, whereas it is rare in non-magmatically associated hydrothermal veins.File in questo prodotto:
