This workshop is designed to bring together current, past, and prospective PhD, Master’s, Diploma and PGCert students in veterinary education research. A similar workshop has been successfully run four times at previous VetEd symposia (2014-2017) and the current workshop will provide a mechanism to (re)build a community of practice. There are plenty of new faces in the field who, because of the pandemic, have not had a chance to get together and share their experiences yet. The facilitators of the workshop are current PhD students in veterinary education who are keen to discuss their journeys so far, and to hear from others who are currently facing similar challenges and successes too. We would also welcome anyone who has completed research in education to come and share their wisdom. Equally, we would suggest that current PhD/Master’s supervisors should attend to open conversations about the challenges and joys of supervising research in this field. During the workshop we will invite attendees to discuss their current projects or potential ideas and share tips with peers. This workshop can therefore act as an arena for networking, finding collaborators or mentors. We hope to encourage new researchers to join the community and we would welcome anyone interested to attend. This will be a friendly, relaxed, and flexible workshop, largely directed by the attendees. It can include break out groups to discuss different research degree levels or simply be a broader discussion of the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of postgraduate research in veterinary education.
