Ostrich breeding, diffuses in several countries, is increasing in Italy over the last years. in order to investigate the ovary activity at the beginning of breeding season, twenty-two female ostriches (Struthio camelus), were submitted to ultrasonography examination. The techniques employed are described in order to determinate the relation between ovarian activity and ova production. The exams described allows 90% of accuracy.
