This paper aims to focus on a research line that enhances the reading experience and the physical and digital library collections. In particular, it introduces the conceptual model related to narrative and transmedia shelves, which are intended to facilitate browsing and serendipitous discovery. Furthermore, it describes the initial phases of the pre-prototype shelf experiment, the result of a collaboration between the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Turin and the Turin Public Libraries.
