VoiceMath: Enhancing Accessibility in STEM Education through Formulae Transcription in Video Lectures

The contribution presents the VoiceMath project (started in 2021) of the Polin Laboratory, Research and Experimentation with Novel Assistive Technologies for STEM, in collaboration with Maize srl and the SIPE Directorate of the University of Turin. VoiceMath is a web application developed to meet the Cneeds of videos of university lectures of scientific content. The strengths of the project are: the effective transformation of a product of research into a service for the university and the development of a web application that facilitates transcription of videos with STEM content into formats accessible to people with disabilities or SLD. This application reduces the complexity of the transcription process, thereby engendering manifold advantages for fostering inclusive educational practices, particularly within the domain of STEM disciplines at the university level.
