The article examines the necessary evolution of digital transformation of the entire public procurement cycle to promote efficiency and sustainability, based on enhanced cooperation among Member States. The digital transformation of public procurement requires advanced technological tools to ensure full interoperability, result oriented performance and the effective internal market integration, through a digital definition of obligations and rights of the parties involved in digital procurement. Interoperable platforms, digitalisation and data-driven solutions could increase activities and covered sectors, even across national borders. This development requires in-depth market analyses for the public procurement system efficiency, and the development of cooperation and specialized contracting authorities and central purchasing bodies, overcoming legal and language barriers through interoperable platfom that permit a hudge semplification of partecipation and monitoring of any supplier, also SMEs, thus promoting participation and market opening.
