In this paper we present an experiment on the use of face expression recognition in interactive performance, conduced by using a platform for interactive drama that augments the performer-audience interaction with an intelligent prompt. Step after step, the emotional response of the audience is automatically detected through a face expression recognition service and the performer decides whether to encourage the audience's response or not. We describe the data collected during the performance, discussing the potential of the approach and the redesign issues emerged from the experience gained.

Abstract
In this paper we present an experiment on the use of face expression recognition in interactive performance, conduced by using a platform for interactive drama that augments the performer-audience interaction with an intelligent prompt. Step after step, the emotional response of the audience is automatically detected through a face expression recognition service and the performer decides whether to encourage the audience's response or not. We describe the data collected during the performance, discussing the potential of the approach and the redesign issues emerged from the experience gained.File in questo prodotto:
