Н. Я. Марр и В. И. Абаев: взаимодействие учителя и ученика в отражении архивных документов

The article highlights certain aspects of the relationship between N. Y. Marr and V. I. Abaev, as presented in various documents, including letters from Abaev to Marr preserved in the St. Petersburg Branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Abayev’s attitude toward the “new doctrine of language” was clearly not unambiguous, despite his inclination toward traditional linguistics. Similarly, the assessment of Abaev’s stance on Japhetidology by researchers were never unequivocal. However, there is no reason to doubt the significant support Marr provided to his younger colleague, a novice scientist deeply esteemed by him, or the great respect that Abaev, as a student, felt for his outstanding teacher.
