In the evaluation of forensic science evidence, the common concept of uncertainty - well-known to chemists and relative to methods and instrumental measurements - should be expanded in order to consider both the uniqueness of the case and the biological variables frequently involved. A variety of circumstances are presented to illustrate this statement.
