Marking the centenary of Ossi di seppia, this study presents an experimental analysis devoted to Eugenio Montale’s modus legendi. The corpus comprises six readings performed for rai broadcasts of poems from the 1925 collection. We integrate metrical analysis with a phonetic approach. The results reveal a distinctive rhythmic–intonational style, characterized by an organization in minor continuatives, wide melodic excursions with rising contours on stressed syllables, and a marked final lengthening. We conclude that Montale’s voice foregrounds structural regularities that interact with metrical design, illuminating his poetics and the relationship between composition and enunciation.

Abstract
Marking the centenary of Ossi di seppia, this study presents an experimental analysis devoted to Eugenio Montale’s modus legendi. The corpus comprises six readings performed for rai broadcasts of poems from the 1925 collection. We integrate metrical analysis with a phonetic approach. The results reveal a distinctive rhythmic–intonational style, characterized by an organization in minor continuatives, wide melodic excursions with rising contours on stressed syllables, and a marked final lengthening. We conclude that Montale’s voice foregrounds structural regularities that interact with metrical design, illuminating his poetics and the relationship between composition and enunciation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
