The definition of Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets is revised to exploit structural properties of the model for the specification of random switches at the net level. The priority structure that in the original definition favors the firing of immediate over timed transitions is extended to allow immediate transitions to belong to different priority levels. The usefulness of the revised definition is demonstrated with an example of a simple flexible manufacturing system model.

Abstract

The definition of Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets is revised to exploit structural properties of the model for the specification of random switches at the net level. The priority structure that in the original definition favors the firing of immediate over timed transitions is extended to allow immediate transitions to belong to different priority levels. The usefulness of the revised definition is demonstrated with an example of a simple flexible manufacturing system model.
