Abstract

The use of Stochastic Petri Net models for the performance evaluation of Flexible Manufacturing Systems is illustrated by means of an example. Stochastic Petri Net models are shown to be useful as specification descriptions from which an event driven simulator is automatically constructed. A modelling tool that allows the interactive construction of the graphical model and subsequently develops an interactive simulation environment for the evaluation of the model is discussed with an emphasis on its software architecture.
